Žinau, pasakysit, kad jau kam, bet blynams recepto nereikia. Gal ir sutikčiau, bet man niekuomet nesigauna tokie puikūs blynai kaip mano tėčiui. O jis net negali išduoti to slapto recepto, nes&#8230; viską daro iš akies. Todėl, matyt, iki gyvenimo galo neišmoksiu kept tobulų blynų.<br />

<em>I know you probably say that pancakes don&#8217;t need recipes. You just make them. But for some unknown reason I can&#8217;t get my pancakes to be half as good as my dad&#8217;s. <p>Beje, labai mėgstu vartyt visokias receptų knygas ir kitų žmonių receptus. Net seilės teka. O jei dar su nuotraukom. Nors išbandytiems receptams nė nuotraukų nereikia – atminty skoniai ir kvapai būna taip įsirėžę, kad taip ir svajoji dar ir dar kartą paragaut. Šiuo metu labiausiai norėčiau grįžt į Paryžių ir vėl iš naujo ragaut visus gardėsius, arba važiuot į Romą ledų. Nenusimato nei Paryžius, nei Roma, tad svarstau, kad gal bent ledų gaminimo aparatą nusipirkt būtų neprošal, gal pavyktų priartėt prie tikrųjų ledų skonio.<br />

<em>I love reading recipe books, food blogs and other people&#8217;s recipes. Oh it makes my mouth water. All those photos of wonderful food makes you want to eat. But for the recipes you&#8217;ve already tried you don&#8217;t need a photo anymore &#8211; it makes you feel all the tastes and smells simply by re-reading a recipe. You instantly want to taste it. Right now I&#8217;d love to go back to Paris for all the pastries and to Rome for the ice-cream. But the possibility is unlikely. So maybe I&#8217;ll go buy myself and ice-cream machine and hope that one day my ice-cream will at least reseble those I had in Rome.</em></p>

I&#8217;m quite a professional sleeper on public transport. I open one eye at every stop, yet I manage to dream at least 5 dreams during that short trip. However, some of the latter trips home from work I spent with a crochet hook in hand. </em></p>

Mėgstu kavą, bet prie kavos dažniausiai dar norisi ir deserto. Bėda. O dar dabar, kai, atrodo, karščiai įsisiūbuoja, karšta kava taip nebežavi. <em>I like coffee, but I usually want to eat something sweet while drinking it. A problem it is. Also, with the hot weather coming back hot coffee is not one of my favourites. So I decided to make a coffee dessert and solve both the pastry problem and the heat question. It&#8217;s great for a hot day like that, or better yet a warm evening because a cream liqueur surely tastes good, but it&#8217;s not so great having it at work in any form.</em><br />

Taigi tikrų tikriausia&#8230; kavos žėlė su kreminiu kavos likeriu &#8220;<a href="http://www.stumbras.eu/gerimai/likeris/poema/">Poema</a>&#8221; (nors įtariu, kad būtų dar skaniau, su karališkų slyvų &#8220;Poema&#8221;) ir pieno puta. Tikrai nesu žėlė gaminimo profesionalė. Iš vaikystės prisimenu fantastiško grožio saldžias močiutės žėlė ir mamos sterko užpiltines, dekoruotas valgomom gėlėm, pakalnutėm ir kitokiom grožybėm. Jei atvirai, žėlė gaminu kokį kartą per metus ir gamyba baigiasi tuo, kad su žėlė milteliais sumaišytas vaisių sultis supilu į indelį. Viskas. Šįkart nusprendžiau truputį pavargti ir išbandyt žėlė sluoksnius. Gal ne idealiai, bet pavyko. Kitąkart dar truputį geriau leisčiau kiekvienam sluoksniui pastingti.<br />

<em>So this is a coffee jello with cream cofee liqueur (though I think it would even be better with plum liqueur) and a milk foam. I am not into making jelly. I remember my grandmother making jello decorated with fruits and my mom making jellied fish with flowers made from vegetables. It always looked so great. As for me, making jello means mixing juice or fruit pulp with jello powder and pouring it into glasses. That&#8217;s it. But I decided to try layers this time. Maybe they&#8217;re not ideal, but it worked even though next time I would wait longer for each layer to set. </em><br />

Pakaitinam pieną, įdedam cukraus, išbrinkintą žėlė. Galim išplakt iki putų. Atvėsinam iki kambario temperatūros.<br />

<p style="text-align:justify;">Tikriausiai niekam ne paslaptis, kad Paryžiuj nemažai pinigų palikau už saldėsius, ypač už &#8220;<a href="http://kepejaibestabdziu.blogspot.com/2009/01/makaronai.html">makaronus</a>&#8221; (macaronsus). Labai lengvi, labai skanūs, visokiausių skonių ir laaabai gražūs. Tai va, žinau, kad galima tokius ir namie išsikept, tik kol kas mano pastangos buvo labai nevykusios ir nė nebandysiu čia demonstruot.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>It&#8217;s not a secret that when I was in Paris, I spent quite a sum on pastries and especially macarons. They&#8217;re so light, so tasty, and soooo beautiful. I know you can make them at home, but my experiments always end up in a bin. I&#8217;m totally not getting something. Though I still hope I will conquer them one day.</em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Negaliu atsispirt visokiausiems saldumynams. Kai pradėjau dirbt, mano liemuo padidėjo keliais centimetrais, nes tiesiai prie biuro yra kepinių parduotuvėlė, už kampo &#8211; kita, už kito kampo &#8211; dar viena. Žodžiu, labai rizikinga, nes periodiškai bendradarbiai kursuoja žemyn &#8220;ko nors skanaus.&#8221; Taip vieną kartą bekursuodama užsukau į &#8220;Stiklių&#8221; Ponių laimę. Prisimenu, kai senais laikais &#8220;Ponių laimė&#8221; buvo Gedimino pr. ir atrodė kaip tikras stebuklas su savo įmantriais pyragaičiais. Dabar vitrinose irgi puikuojasi visokie tortai, sausainiai ir pyragėliai. O vieną dieną pastebėjau &#8220;makaronus&#8221;! Puoliau džiaugsmingai plot rankom, tačiau geriau įsižiūrėjau ir&#8230; išvaizda jie nė iš tolo neprilygo tiems, ragautiems Paryžiuj. Nusprendžiau, kad išvaizda &#8211; dar ne viskas, ir maišelyje parsinešiau kelis gražesnius avietinius ir šokoladinius &#8220;makaronus&#8221; į darbą. Ir&#8230; o nusivylime, matyt tų &#8220;makaronų&#8221; niekas neperka, nes atrodo, kad jie vitrinoj gulėjo amžių amžius. O jau galvojau, kad galėsiu pasidaryti sau mažąjį Paryžių kur prie Vilnelės. Gal visgi reikės rimčiau užsiimti kepimu.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>I cannot resist sweet things and once I started working in my new job, my waist line has added a couple of centimeters to it. You know why? Because right beside my office there is a pastry shop, on a corner next to it &#8211; one more, and one or two more in a couple of minutes of walking distance. My colleagues are going downstairs a couple times a day for &#8220;something sweet&#8221;.  So one day looking for something new I wandered into &#8220;Stikliai&#8221; pastry shop. I remember when in the old days the shop was in another street and it looked like a miracle with all those wonderful cakes and cookies. They do have quite a selection today as well, and I discovered that they actually have macarons! I was delighted at first, but after a close inspection I saw that their looks aren&#8217;t that great. Anyway, it was on my list and I really wanted to try them out. So I brought them to work, made myself coffee and&#8230; what an unpleasant surprise, it seems that macarons are really unpopular and have stayed on a shelf for quite a while. And I secretly hoped to make a little Paris on a weekend. After all I probably should spend some time in a kitchen.</em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Prieš kelias dienas baigiau skaityti amerikiečių rašytojos, turinčios Lietuvoje šaknų, romaną &#8220;<a href="http://www.knyguklubas.lt/knygos+vaikams+ir+jaunimui/gyvenimiskos+ir+ne+tik+istorijos/tarp+pilku+debesu.html">Tarp pilkų debesų</a>&#8220;, kuri pateko į New York Times bestselerių sąrašą. Tik niekaip nesuprantu, kodėl tiek Amerikoje, tiek Lietuvoje ji pozicionuojama kaip jaunimo literatūra. Kažko nesuprantu, nes man tai nelabai panašu į jaunimo literatūrą &#8211; vargu, ar lietuvių tremties istorija man atitiktų šią kategoriją, nors neneigsiu, kad parašyta paprastai (bet ne prastai), greitai skaitosi, o istorija pasakojama iš jaunos merginos perspektyvos. Bet kokiu atveju, skaitydama išverkiau akis. Taip, dažnai verkiu žiūrėdama filmus ir skaitydama knygas.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>I&#8217;ve just recently finished a novel by an American author having Lithuanian background &#8220;<a href="http://piedmont.patch.com/events/meet-ruta-sepetys-new-york-times-best-selling-author-of-between-shades-of-gray">Between Sades of Gray</a>&#8221; that has appeared on a New York Times Bestseller list. I don&#8217;t really understand why the book is described as children and youth literature both in America and Lithuania. Somehow the story of exile to Siberia during the Stalin regime doesn&#8217;t sound like something for children. I really enjoyed it even though I cried my eyes out (yes, I do tend to cry while watching movies or reading books).</em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Bet įdomiausia, kad netiesiogiai apie šią rašomą knygą žinojau jau prieš dvejus metus. Nes netikėtom aplinkybėm  &#8221;<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/goodmoodnotes">Etsy</a>&#8221; parduotuvėlėj buvau paprašyta padaryt lietuviškumu spinduliuojančią knygelę būtent knygos autorei Rutai, kuri į mano knygelę turėjo rašyti knygos juodraščius ir mintis knygai. Tai va tokie netikėti ryšiai kartais suveda žmones ir knygas skirtingose pasaulio vietose.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>But the most interesting part is that it appears I knew about this book coming two years ago, when in my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/goodmoodnotes">Etsy</a> shop I was asked to make a Lithuanian design book for the author to make notes and write drafts. Sometimes people and books are connected in mysterious ways.  </em></p>

All you should eat is bread and water, definitely not mascarpone cheese, cream and cream liquor with coffee in various forms. On the other hand, who could resist the temptation? Cha, be to, išmokau nauju būdu plakti šluotele &#8211; pasirodo, galima tiesiog ją sukti tarp delnų!</p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">Tešla:</span><br />
Suplakam kiaušinius su grietine ir druska, dedam miltus ir minkom tešlą, kol ją galima kočioti. Plonai iškočiojame, supjaustoma norima forma ir subadome šakute. Gerai įkaitintame aliejuje verdame, kol tampa gražios auksinės spalvos. Nusausinam riebalų perteklių.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Kremas:</span><br />
Plakam grietinėlę su cukrum, vėliau įdedam vanilės lazdelės sėklas ir išplakam su mascarpone sūriu.</p>

<p>You&#8217;ll need:<br />

<em> 4 eggs</em><br />
<em> 250 g sour cream 30% fat</em><br />
<em> a pinch of salt</em><br />
<em> flour according to needs</em><br />
<em> oil to bake in</em><br />
<span style="text-decoration:underline;"> For the cream</span><br />
<em> 0,5 kg mascarpone cheese</em><br />
<em> 250 ml double cream</em><br />
<em> 100 g sugar</em><br />
<em> seeds from 1 vanilla pod</em><br />
<em> &#8221;Poemos&#8221; cream liquor for sauce</em></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s make it:<br />
<span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Pastry:</span><br />
<em> Whisk eggs together with sour cream and salt. Add flour and knead the dough. Roll it thin, cut and poke with a fork. Boil in a hot oil till it&#8217;s golden. Dry off the excess fat. </em></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Cream:</span><br />
<em> Whisk double cream with sugar, add vanilla seeds and mascarpone cheese. </em></p>
<p><em>For the sauce heat &#8220;Poema&#8221; liquor till it thickens. </em></p>
<p><em>It went really well with toasted cashew and pine nuts, dried cherries and blueberries. </em></p>

<em>I love picking mushrooms and I wait for autumn. I can&#8217;t really boast of any great mushroom picking victories as I only found a couple of edible boletus. However, mushroom season can last for the whole year, if your mom bakes mushrooms according to a super secret recipe from my grandmother. I am a successor of a recipe, but I&#8217;m yet to try the art of baking mushrooms. </em></p>

Tik reikia labai gero žadintuvo, kad pagaliau išbudintų.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Nežinau, kur dingo laikas. Matyt metas time management kursams.  Jau ir pavasaris kyšteli savo nosį, o aš nė nepastebėjau, kaip pralėkė du mėnesiai. Tik žiūriu, kad ant palangės &#8211; krūva padėtų ir pamirštų neįgyvendintų idėjų dulka.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>I&#8217;m not sure where the time is. I think I should go through some time management course. It&#8217;s already spring, but I&#8217;ve barely noticed the two months go by. I look around and see all those unfinished forgotten projects on my windowsill gathering dust. </em></p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Truputį liūdna, nes galvoje idėjos gyvena savo gyvenimą, bet kūnas atsisako dirbti. Matyt ir vėl neįgyvendinsiu savo plano iki Velykų pabaigti vieno siuvinėjimo. Gaila. O kiek dar visko norėtųsi nuveikti.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><em>It&#8217;s a little bit sad that my ideas live somewhere in my head, but my body is refusing to work late. It seems I&#8217;ll once again fail on my cross-stitch tablecloth for Easter. What a pitty. And I&#8217;d love to be doing so much more. </em></p>

Tikiuosi, kad atsigaus ir knygelių gamyba, nes mintys verda, medžiagos laukia, bet kol kas darbai vyksta tik labai iš lėto. Ką byloja vien tai, kad mano asmeninis 2011 metų kalendorius dar laukia išdraskytas ant palangės.</p>

<p><em>I still have hope that my bookbinding projects will be back on track. I have ideas and fabrics, but the progress of the actual work is extremely slow. My own personal 2011 calendar is still waiting half-finished on my winowsill. </em></p>

Gal net paskatins vėl grįžti į <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/goodmoodnotes">Etsy</a> parduotuvėlę. Saulėto ir jums pavasario ir daug laisvo laiko.</p>

I hope this bird will bring me spring in its beak and teach me to plan my time better, feel less tired and be more organized.
